Just back in Copenhagen from the Redsea that, once again had some really good diving.
On 6. of November I'm heading back to Curacao to meet up with a friend
from Holland named Goos. The idea is to find a sailboat in Florida, St. Martin or
Trinedad & Tobago and sail it back to Curacao, hang out in the Caribbean area
until the next hurricane season is coming (june 2007) and then go through the
Panama Channel and into the Pacific Ocean and try to reach South East Asia.
This project will take some years to pull off but I have plenty of time and urge to try it out.
If you have any questions, remarks or suggestions write me an e-mail on below adress.
Thanks very much for stopping by my website.
Curacao, Netherlands Antilles, monday december 11.
My dream is not dead at all, I still hope to find a sailboat and sail the 7 seas of the world. The luck on Curacao was not with me regarding finding a ship, in many other ways I was very lucky. Specially with seeing friends again and here by thanks to everybody who once again helped me out in different ways, you know who you area
December 13. I'm venturing up to Florida to seek my ultimate freedom, a sailboat. My good friend Goos from Holland is flying with me, and is going to help me pick the right boat.
If the mission should for some reason not succeed, we gonna be back on Curacao January 10 on the other hand, should I get the boat the idea is to sail it back to Curacao through Dominican Republic and all the Antilles in a month or so. Once we?re on the boat the wind will decide where to go and when to go there.
At the moment I?m interested in around 10 sailboats all with inboard motor and around 40 feet in length. 6 of these 10 I really like but it?s very difficult to judge from a photo, so I have to see them first, before I make my finally call.
Later on in the new year, I will take friends and family sailing but first and hardest step is to find the right boat.
Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA, friday December 22. 2006
Me and my friend Goos, arrived in Miami on the 13. December and got to the ClayHotel in
SouthBeach. It is not cheap to be in Miami, so after lots of phone calls and looking
on the internet, we rented a car.
That took only a solid day!
It?s a Chrystler Sebring 2007 with a mileage of only 25. Yes, you could say, brand spanking
new and it smelled that way to. It took us north of Miami to lots of motels along highway US1.
At the moment we are staying in a motel in Fort Lauderdale. The area has lots of really
weird people, we love it. Just across the road, US1, our office is located. More accurate,
our office is the Miami Grill that has wireless internet and where most of the sailboat
hunting is going on. Besides that, the owners are really nice.
When we first got here, we found a really nice sailboat. It took forever to get brokers, owners
and other people to show us this boat, but it was perfect until we got it out of the water. The
hull was full of blisters which are not good and the interior needed lots of work.
I decided not to get the boat, to much work and to many blisters.
We looked at another boat a couple of days after, and made appointments with a guy from
Venezuela. It turned out that we had to take a speedboat with him, to get to the sailboat.
It appeared in the bay and with out being too negative, I seen better boats on the seafloor
when I was diving. The sailboat needed so much work, that it would proberly take
around a year to fix it.
The guy from Venezuela was a private investigator with lots of stories, so it wasn't a
complete waste of time, but close.
As I predicted, this stage of this great adventure, is the most challenging one.
In the next few weeks, we have some boats in The Keys and a few up in Northern
Florida to look at, before we head towards West Florida.
It is really difficult to say anything about future plans regarding sailing, because I don't
have a vessel yet, but when I do.. I'll be RAGIN the seas!!!!
